Get in Shape Girl!

This post is a shout out to my mom who was too tickled at me exercising with my Walk at Home DVD this morning. She had a big laugh fest at me. It was funny though. But, in the words of Little Joe in the movie Cabin in the Sky, " I kept plugging Petunia." I walked a mile. Then, after I cooled down and relaxed, my mom and I were talking. She was still amused, but very proud of me too. She said it reminded her of when I was a little girl using my Get in Shape Girl exercise gear. I wanted it so bad and I got it for Christmas when I was in about first grade. My motivation was that I wanted to do what I was seeing her and my cousin Gale do. I had my Get in Shape Girl leg warmers, headband, dumbbells and exercise tape. I couldn't wait to show my cousin that I had dumbbells like hers. My mom would get so tickled at me, 6 years old, exercising and out of breath,LOL.

The Ree Po'Boy

Today, I made a sandwich that I call The Ree Po'Boy. Now, it's basically a shrimp Po'Boy. I am blogging about this because it is a healthy alternative to a fried shrimp Po'Boy. On this sandwich, I used Tony Chachere's Wild Caught Gulf Shrimp, 1 baby beef tomato, artichoke, green olives and kalamata olives from my salad in the previous post, Cracker Barrel extra-sharp white cheddar, and Pepperidge Farm's Garlic Mozzarella bread. I boiled the shrimp and drizzled them in extra virgin olive oil, ran the bread in the oven, added the toppings and voila

Fruit and Salad, Fruit and Salad.... Goes together like.....

Yesterday, I ate fruit and salad.  I ordered a gigantic salad Famous Salad Bar salad from Jason's Deli. On this salad I ordered spinach, purple slices, mushrooms, pecans, asiago cheese, cheddar cheese, bacon bits - I know the last two ingredients weren't spring of good health - roasted chicken breast, carrots, cucumber, green olives, kalamata olives, cranberries, walnuts, pine nuts, broccoli, avocado, artichoke, and cauliflower.

This salad was soooo good. It was sooo huge that I ate from it 3 days straight. Then, I ordered another one and added sprouts.

Fitness Equipment and Videos

I am getting out the old dumbells, pilates matte, exercise ball, and stretch cords. I also bought a pedometer. When I exercised yesterday, I made 2,842 steps. My fitness video collection has grown quite a bit. My favorites are my Richard Simmons videos that I found in my local Dollar General store. I have Tone Up on Broadway, Disco Blast Off, Latin Blast Off, Mega Mix, and Blast & Tone. The Newest video is Leslie Sansone's Walk at Home: 5 Mile Fat Burning Walk. I bought it on Tuesday and I tried it out Wednesday. It is awesome!!!!!!!! It was easy to keep up with and and invigorating. It lets you choose from 1, 2, 3, 4 or 5 miles. It even includes a boosted walk and jog in the last two minutes of each mile. It is awesome.

The Battle of the Bulging Belly

This year, I completed a Master's degree, taught myself to sew and to cook, and I got the courage to wear my hair in it's natural state. I blog about my sewing on my other blog,Wrapped in Taffeta. Now, I have decided that it's time that I get in shape. I have been overweight since I was about 5 years old and I made 30 years old on July 30, 2010. I came that I needed to get in shape when I realized how out of shape I was. At first, I attributed it to being 30 yrs old.  I thought that the old gray mare wasn't what she used to be. When I realized that I was getting sore from just sitting down long periods of time, I knew that  I needed to do something. I was sore like I had ran 3 miles. The last straw was when I started needing to use Icy Hot,Capzasin HP, and Blue Emu cream for the soreness. So, now I have decided that it is time to move it or lose it,lol.

I started my first blog to help myself stay on task with my sewing and stay in touch with all that I love in fashion, music, and art. It has been working out really well. So, I decided to start a fitness blog to help me stay on task with maintaining healthy eating habits and a good fitness regimen.
